Succession Planning

Management succession is seen as one of the most important issues facing employers, profit and nonprofit, in the next five years by Chief Executive Officers, Executive Directors and governing boards. The shortage of talent at the executive and management levels is being called a crisis by some human resource executives. The strength and caliber of leadership is the foundation of any organization's future and that same future depends on high performing leadership talent and strategies for proactive and ongoing leadership development to build and sustain a real competitive advantage. Ensuring a flow of qualified managers and leaders enhances not only competitive but the strategic advantages of your organization.

As an organization faced with one or many future key position transitions, there are many issues you must be prepared for and knowledgeable on:

  • Does your organization have the resources, skills and systems in place to identify and develop the talent needed for today and for the future?
  • Do you know who the high potentials are in your organization? How do you identify this talent to ensure that you have what is needed to handle the current challenges? What about the necessary skills to handle the challenges not even known that will be present in the future?
  • Have you eliminated distortion from your talent pool selection process to ensure you are accurately assessing potential promotable candidates?
  • Do you have a plan in place to help your high potential talent realize their career plans and retain them within the organization?
  • How will you ensure a focused and systematic approach to accelerating the development of individuals with verified advancement potential?

We are experienced in the design of succession plans and leadership talent reviews in cross-industry private and public sectors as well as nonprofit organizations. The Human Resource Department will work with your executive leadership team and Board to:
